Gateway to the Greater Maasai Mara

Safari 2.0

The Spinney is about safari. But we’re also about family, food and fun beyond the safari car.

There are 24 conservancies within the greater Maasai Mara ecosystem (see map) - arguably the the world’s premier safari park. The Spinney is located the Mara’s North Western tip. The Mara’s northern conservancies are known for their abundant wildlife and privacy; the number of tourists in the area are tightly controlled.

Located within the Naretoi Wildlife Estate, guests have easy access to Enonkishu, Ol Chorro, Mbokishi and Lemek Conservancy Areas (some restrictions to Lemek apply).

The Mara National Reserve and Mara Triangle are approximately an hour drive from The Spinney. Guests are welcome there (but have to pay a separate conservancy fee).

  • Watch a show - outside!

We’ve avoided the traditional TV - but instead built you an outdoor theater. Enjoy movies and TV shows projected from our Apple TV onto a big screen on our veranda, overlooking the Mara River. Hippo watch while enjoying the latest blockbuster.

  • Chill at our firepit

Nothing beats ending the day sitting around a camp fire, overlooking the Mara River with the sun setting behind yellow acacia trees in the distance. Roasted marshmallows for all!

  • (Extremely) remote work

Yes, The Spinney is truly remote. Luckily, we have very fast and reliable internet. Work, stream shows - whatever you needs our system can handle it.

  • Play lawn games

Between our pool and the Mara River edge, sits a great big green lawn, perfect for a game of soccer, cornhole, life-size Jenga, badminton - whatever you and your family are into. We keep a stock of games to keep the whole family entertained.

  • Go for a hike

Enjoy a guided hike up Mt. Kileleoni, the highest point in the Mara ecosystem (approximately 2,100 meters). From the top, visitors are treated to incredible panoramic views of the Mara. The base of the Mt. Kileleoni is only about 15 minutes from The Spinney. Not recommended for children under the age of eight. Extra guiding charges apply.

  • Treat yourself to a massage

Muscles sore from bumping around in a safari car? We have a lovely masseuse on call. Organize in advance and extra fees apply.

Located within Naretoi (minutes from The Spinney), the cricket pitch and tennis court area is great to run around, hit some balls, play soccer, football or even cricket! Please bring your own equipment.
